BATTERY CHARGING Feral batteries have been packaged with a small amount of charge left in the battery. This helps to maintain the cells before use. After assembling the pack and before the first charge it is recommended to put about 200 seconds of charge into the pack and then discharge down to 0.9 volts. This will help activate the cells and possibly avoid any venting on the first charge The new generation NiMh cells have similar characteristics as far as the charge technique is concerned. You should use the following settings:6 amp charge for best voltage 3 or 4 mv cutoff per cell (18-24 mv per pack) It is essential that you have a good quality charger. You have good cells so why destroy them with poor quality chargers. The following rules apply to charging your batteries: Never charge your batteries the night before racing. This doesn't allow your batteries to achieve their best voltage on race day. Never fan cool your batteries while charging. This artificially effects the charge process and can damage cells. Try to charge your batteries so that they finish charging just before you need to race. This is not always easy to achieve but a single peak situation achieves the best voltage in your pack. It is ideal to go out to race with a warm pack as this indicates that charging has been finished recently and the voltage is still high. If you mistime your charging and the pack goes goes cold then you should repeak the pack to increase the voltage.
